Heather
M. Nelson, a native from Minneapolis, Minnesota, earned
a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from
the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993. After college,
she went on to law school at Chicago-Kent College of
Law in Chicago, Illinois where she earned her J.D. in
just 2 years in 1995. Ms. Nelson began her legal career
as an associate with Donald Hubert & Associates where
she practiced in the areas of high profile, complex
civil and criminal litigation and ethics work. She also
began to develop an entertainment practice of her own.
Due to the increasing demands of the entertainment practice,
in early 1998, Ms. Nelson opened the Law Office of Heather
Nelson. Her current practice concentrates in the areas
of Entertainment Law and Criminal Litigation.

Ms. Nelson's clients include a
wide range of aspiring artists, gold and platinum recording
atists, managers, producers, models, actors, comedians,
songwriters, entertainment companies and independent record
labels. In addition to her law practice, Ms. Nelson also
participates nationally and internationally on numerous
entertainment-related conference panels, including CLE
seminars, colleges and universities and special interest
organizations. Ms. Nelson was an instructor at Columbia
College in Chicago, Illinois where for 3 years, she taught
the course "Legal Aspects of the Arts and Entertainment
Industries".
Ms. Nelson's law practice has also been featured in several
publications. In 2001, Ms. Nelson received the highly
esteemed NABFEME International Leadership Summit "Profiles
of Excellence Award" for Legal Executive of the Year.
Her professional affiliations include: National Academy
of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), Board of Governors,
Chicago Bar Association (co-Chair Entertainment Law Committee),
American Bar Association, Black Entertainment & Sports
Lawyers' Association (BESLA), Special Olympics Area 3

of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment
